  • Get involved and become familiar with the healthcare field!

  • Due to the high demand and competitiveness of the program, Summer and Interim classes may be neccesary for timely graduation.

Learn Titan Web, Pre-Nursing GPA, Involvement, CNA plan. Be competitive.

Learn USP requirements, CON class sequence. Learn to develop Plan B.

Conduct career research, learn CON value, and advising expectation. Learn to schedule appt.

Your 2nd semester

Learn to interpret STAR, to refine Plan B

Second 1-on-1 Advising Appointment

Learn timeline to application, nursing career path, application requirement.

Trasitional/3rd 1-on-1 Advising Appointment

Learn all aspect of application. Register for TEAS. Know Plan B. 

Register for remaining classes, transition to faculty advising, know graduation requirements.

CNA
  • Students need to have an active CNA license, or at least pass CNA exams BEFORE interviewing for the clinical portion. In the second scenario, you will need to appeal when applying to Nursing if you haven't taken/passed your CNA exams. 

  • CNA classes are often offered in Summers and during Interims (January, May).

    • Students should avoide taking CNA class during regular semesters. 

    • UWO doesn't have CNA training. 

  • CNA classes are usually offered by Wisconsin Technical Schools and some nursing homes. See a list of their fliers!

Volunteering
  • You will be asked about your volunteering experiences in your Written Application and your Interview.

  • Log your hours and your references. 

  • Diversity can involve age, socio-economic status, cultural, racial/ethnicity, sexual orientation etc.. 

  • Job shadow opportunities available in Fox Valley Health Alliance http://www.fvhca.org/JobShadow.html .

  • Join OSNA and Men in Nursing or other student clubs to gain volunteer experiences!
